  • Blended Project-Based Learning

  • A Refreshing Way to Learn

Project-based learning (PBL) is an educational approach that encourages students to actively engage with real-world problems and challenges in order to learn new concepts and skills. In PBL, students work on projects that involve finding solutions to problems, creating something new, or both. These projects often involve creating a model, presentation, or prototype. Our courses utilise a blended approach, incorporating online content and other resources throughout the learning journey.

  • Our features

    Section image

    Students choose their projects

Allowing students to choose their own projects in a PBL course can lead to a more personalised, engaging, and meaningful learning experience.

    Section image

    Academic support

Academic support is an important component of a PBL course, as it helps students to better understand the learning objectives, provides guidance and support, and encourages self-direction and critical thinking.

    Academic timeline

Having an academic timeline helps students to manage their time effectively and stay on track with their work. It also helps keep the project focused and ensures that students are able to complete all the necessary tasks within the allotted time frame.

  • Benefits of PBL

    1

    Personalised learning

By allowing students to choose their own projects, teachers can tailor the learning experience to the individual needs and interests of each student. This can make the learning more meaningful and relevant to the student, which can increase their engagement and motivation.

    2

    Development of self-direction

When students are given the freedom to choose their own projects, they must take ownership of their learning and become more self-directed. This can help them to develop important skills such as independence, responsibility, and self-management.

    3

    Opportunities for creativity

Allowing students to choose their own projects can provide an opportunity for them to be creative and come up with their own ideas and solutions to problems. This can support the development of their inventiveness and innovation skills.

    4

    Focus on small groups

The office hour / tutorial system allows small-group instruction, which can foster more in-depth and engaging discussions, promote critical thinking and active learning, and build a sense of community among students.

    5

Combination of traditional & digital forms of instruction

Blended project-based learning combines traditional classroom instruction with digital resources and tools, providing students with a more dynamic and engaging learning experience.

    6

    Emphasis on hands-on, real-world projects

Students can apply what they have learned to real-world problems and projects, which can help them to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

    7

    Promotion of collaboration & teamwork

Students are often required to work in teams on projects, which can help them to develop important collaboration and teamwork skills.

    Text analytics in finance

This study aims to build a stock price forecasting model (BERT-LSTM) based on financial text sentiment analysis to improve the model's accuracy. When forecasting the stock price, it is helpful to improve forecasting accuracy by fusing the characteristics of emotional analysis. This study provides new attempts at text information in financial market applications. It provides decision-making support for corporate business decisions, investor trading strategies and government supervision in the age of big data.

    Sustainable carbon trading marketing

Surface temperatures are rising year by year due to greenhouse gas emissions. Carbon emissions trading is an effective means to control the total amount. However, the role of the individual is neglected in this process. We want to combine the enterprise-level carbon market with the individual-level carbon market. Blockchain technology like Main-chain + Side-chain architecture provides the insight to make this happen.

Blood flow in a stenotic vessel

In this research, we investigate the application of PINN in analysing the non-invasive experimental data and inferring the key indicators in blood vessels. To simplify the problem, a steady internal flow in a 2D blood vessel with stenosis is considered, the vessel wall is assumed to be impenetrable and the blood flow is modelled by the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. More details will be settled in future works.
